Here are some tried and tested ones to breed some beautiful discus fishes of your own.

The first step is to get a pair of discus fish so they mate and produce offspring. This can be done either by buying an already "matched" pair from the store or buy some (about 6) and put in a tank so that they find a partner. Discus fish breeders will find that discus fishes are choosy about their mates. Unless they find the right one, they will not partner up.

Once they have found their mate, they usually mark off a section of the tank as their territory. This is usually one of the first signs that they are going to start breeding. Therefore, move them to a different tank solely for breeding.

Since fishes usually lay their eggs vertically, one should place a vertical object in the tank for this purpose. A piece of slate will work well. The tank should be kept as simple as possible so the tank remains clean.

The temperature of water in the tank should be around 86 degree Fahrenheit. As a discus fish breeder this is very important to note for the fish will die if the temperature of water is not right.

The parent fishes usually feed the fry by shedding their scales in the beginning. This will go on for about three weeks. However after three weeks the young fish should be removed to another tank. It is important to do this because if the young fry continue to feed off the parents scale, they will inflict damage on them.

You will notice that the matched pair you have will start mating again and spawn more eggs in just a week's time. They usually continue breeding and spawning for about twelve weeks.
